Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a spiritual practice founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century.

Japanese born Usui was known as a man of virtue, a man of Great Spirit, because he worked tirelessly through meditation and study to improve body, mind and spirit to do collective good and teach knowledge for social purposes.

The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy).

Reiki was developed as a way of being as well as a powerful form of energy healing, self-development and a path to enlightenment.

A Reiki practitioner follows a personal meditative practice whereby they tune into the fine frequency of energy, that is in everything but which we are not necessarily aware of, as we rush through our busy lives.

During a Reiki treatment the practitioner tunes into a deep awareness of the ‘life force energy’ and channels the energy into the client for their highest good.

A treatment can help the client enter a state of deep relaxation where the physical and energetic bodies are better able to heal and rejuvenate.

Everything in life is energy and has a vibration and life force energy responds to our thoughts, feelings and intentions.

When our needs are consistently not met or we experience stress or trauma this can cause a blockage in the flow of life force energy, reducing the effectiveness of the organs and cells of the physical body, and causing us to experience pain, discomfort or dis-ease.

During Reiki it is thought that the frequency of the energy field in and around the physical body where the blockage is manifesting is raised, causing the blocks to dissipate and new life force energy to flow unobstructed and in a healthy and natural way enabling relaxation, reducing pain, speeding healing and reducing other symptoms of dis-ease; returning your body to it’s natural state of order.

Reiki can help with migraines, cancers, side effects of chemotherapy, stress and insomnia, addictions, childhood anxieties, skin conditions, joint/muscle pains, fibromyalgia, exhaustion, grief and anxiety issues and many others.

What happens during a Reiki healing session?

The session lasts for an hour.  You will complete a medical questionnaire during a first session and discuss what has brought you to Reiki and what you’d like to gain as a result of the sessions.

Through a combination of hands on light touch or working just above the head and body I will carry out the Reiki as you lie on the therapy bed.  You will close your eyes if you feel comfortable to do so and will remain fully clothed throughout the session.

Each person experiences a healing differently depending on their individual needs at the time. You may or may not feel sensations during a treatment; either way is absolutely normal.

Benefits include deep relaxation promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well being on all levels.  Some people feel sensations of heat, tingling, or experience seeing colours.

Quite often energy healing can cause an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored.

During the Reiki session, please do feel free to communicate any sensations or feelings as and when they arise, as it is important that you are comfortable at all times and I am aware of how your body responding.

Why I trained in Reiki

Having originally trained as Coach in 2014 and re-trained as an Equine Facilitated Coach in 2017 my coaching has evolved and deepened to a level where I believe we need to heal on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.

We are made up of mind, body and spirit and in order to live a conscious life and understand ourselves at a deep level; what drives our patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours which impacts our physiology,  we need to work with the WHOLE SELF in order to achieve health and happiness.

See my blog to learn more about what has brought me to Reiki.

I will shortly be offering Reiki sessions as part of my coaching programmes.  Contact me to find out more.

Natural healing / Reiki is now recognised as an approved and effective complimentary therapy by many of the NHS Trusts. Reiki is now being used along side standard medical practices and it is increasingly being recognised as a successful method of providing positive and tangible improvements to peoples lives.
