What reality are you creating?

I’ve trained as a Reiki Practitioner!  I couldn’t help myself, I love learning and I love building and enhancing the skills I’ve got to empower myself and others.

Everything in life is energy and has a vibrational frequency – it runs through us and is all around us – and this life force energy responds to our thoughts, feelings and intentions.

Reiki is a practice that allows the Practitioner to tune into this life force energy, through a heart-led, meditative process, altering it’s vibration to treat either physical, emotional, mental or energetic/spiritual dis-ease.

So what lead me to energy healing?  I discovered the power of energy healing a few years ago during the breakdown of my marriage.  Together with talking therapy, it was hugely beneficial in helping me move forward and release painful emotion.

I have to admit at the time I wasn’t really sure how it worked, or whether in fact, it was a placebo effect of me wanting it to work and believing it had worked.  However, there were way too many ‘coincidences’ to believe it was a placebo effect.  The practitioner’s intuition was so freakishly accurate, to the point we shared the virtually the same visualisation during one of the sessions, and she picked up on things about me that she couldn’t possibly have known that I soon came to believe it was definitely more than just a placebo effect.

When I was diagnosed with cancer in August last year I started having more regular energy healing and learnt to do self-healing; a practice of tuning into my intuition through a meditative process and seeing, sensing and feeling what needed to be released physically, emotionally, mentally and energetically/spiritually and using visualisation to imagine and feel it happening.  When you can tune in to the wisdom of your body you are tapping into your infinite unconscious mind which isn’t constrained by rules or beliefs that keep you small.

So what reality are you creating right now?

For me, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the special people in my life; for the love and support I am surrounded by and the wonderful work I am so privileged to do.  I wake up every morning and feel immense gratitude for my life and all the precious moments that are in every day when we choose to see them.  And it is that FEELING from my heart that will be having a positive impact on the cells in my body and creating my reality.

I am choosing to fill my life with things that bring me joy and I feel bloody amazing actually, despite being 3 months into chemotherapy.  I feel so grateful to have so many resources available to me not least the self-awareness that coaching has given me in terms of listening to myself and what I need in the moment.  And I have no doubt that energy healing is helping me release toxins from my body which could otherwise be preventing me from feeling so good right now.

I believe that healing needs to happen on the physical, emotional, mental and energetic/spiritual level to create a state of harmony in our mind and body.  When we don’t have the awareness or we don’t listen to our feelings and intuition about what is going on for us at a spiritual/energetic, mental and emotional level this is likely to manifest as physical dis-ease.

Reiki can help treat the symptoms of the physical dis-ease but can also affect the spiritual, mental or emotional root cause as it channels the different frequencies of the life force energy.

Anyway enough of the spiritual stuff, even though it’s pretty damn amazing 😊.

I guess what I also want to share here is the power we all have within us if we can allow ourselves to let go of the constructed reality we have created for ourselves.  And wouldn’t you just know it, my constructed reality has shown up again in full force following my Reiki training.

A familiar programmed-pattern that made itself well known when I first trained as a Coach.  That little bit of paper in the shape of a certificate that told me I was a qualified Coach but no part of me FELT like I was good enough to be practising as a Coach.  That familiar pattern of two voices in my head; one saying just do it, what’s the worst that can happen, just take that first step, swiftly followed by the one that said NOOO, you’re not ready, you need to do more learning, more qualifications, you need validation that you know what you’re doing.

So here I am again with that constructed reality that I’m not quite good enough to practice Reiki even though I’ve been doing it on myself and have proved I can do it many times.  What I’ve come to realise is it’s a familiar fear of vulnerability.  A fear that I’ll be found out I’m not good enough or a fear of being judged for being a bit ‘fluffy’.

I have been acutely aware of my well practised distraction/avoidance strategies in taking action to move towards actually using Reiki.  Pretty similar in fact to the avoidance strategies I employed when I got my new hot tub (another thing I am extremely grateful for every day btw).  I had no idea how to set up my hot tub and use the chemicals correctly so my children didn’t get hideous chlorine burns!

I know that embracing vulnerability is a strength.  It is brave to be vulnerable and it is brave to be prepared to be a beginner at something again.  It is brave to be ok with not knowing everything all at once and it is brave to tell my story about what has worked for me, knowing that there will be those who think it is ‘fluffy’.  And that is ok.

And I also know that breaking the challenges down into manageable chunks is the best way for me to move forward.  To take one step at a time and focus on what I DO know or what I CAN do in the situation.  Rather than seeing the challenge as “I can’t do anything” or “I don’t know where to start”.

So just as I am now extremely familiar with Adam from YouTube and all his hot tub top tips, I am breaking down my Reiki journey into manageable chunks.  I am writing about it and what it means to me and being vulnerable by sharing this blog.  And I have some lovely people to practice on; for me, taking action is how I will build the confidence and resilience to progress and FEEL like I’m good enough, knowing that mistakes are part of the journey and any mistakes I make won’t impact the client, but will provide me with valuable learning.

And just as I need to keep checking in with Adam from YouTube to make sure I’m maintaining my hot tub properly (and nobody has chlorine burns yet) I will keep addressing each challenge with my Reiki journey and enjoy the process of learning and development and incorporating the Reiki way of being into my life.

The Reiki precepts (way of being) are below.  Why not give them a go?

Just for today, I will let go of anger.

Just for today, I will let go of worry.

Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly (I believe I always do actually 😊).

Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbour and every living thing.

“We each have the power we need to create all the change we need in the world. It’s all about what we believe the limits or freedom of that power are”.  Gregg Braden, The Spontaneous Healing of Belief.

Let me know if you’d like to know more about how Reiki can support you.  I will be offering packages shortly including coaching and Reiki to work with the whole self.  Equine Facilitated Coaching can also be incorporated if appropriate.

And if you need hot tub tips, I can highly recommend Adam!

With love Sarah xx
