When life feels like a series of warning lights

Do you ever feel like you spend your life trying to turn the warning lights off?

Every time you get in your car there seems to be a new warning light on telling you the tyre pressures are low, you need fuel, the oil needs filling up or my particular favourite, there’s an unexplainable electrical issue which will involve your car being hooked up to a diagnostic machine which will rub it’s metaphorical chin and tell you “it’s going to cost you”.

Or you get in from work to find the washing machine beeping furiously because there’s an Error3 – what on earth is an Error3?!

Or you get the spinning wheel of death on your laptop whilst in the middle of typing an overdue document with a bracketed message that says “Word is not responding”…no shit Sherlock!

When life’s warning lights start coming in thick and fast, for me I know that’s a signpost to stop and do something different.

I believe our external world is a reflection of our internal world and when the external world is showing me lots of warning lights, it means my internal world needs some attention to come back into balance and alignment.

For me it’s an opportunity to check in with myself and reflect on where I am making choices in my life that are out of alignment with my values.  What unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns have I potentially slipped in to which are stopping me prioritising self-care and self-compassion.  And what I am going to commit to do differently to switch off those “warning lights”.

How do you know when your internal world is out of alignment?

With love as always.

Sarah xx
