My passion and purpose is to support people to live a heart-led and healthy life. I’m an Accredited Transformational Coach, Inner Child Practitioner, Equine Facilitated Coach and Reiki Practitioner.
I’m a lifelong learner and believe the more we learn the less we know and my purpose has evolved during my personal healing journey and 10 years of coaching experience. My ongoing commitment to deepen and develop my practice, in order to be a clean, safe container for clients and understand myself at a deeper level, has enabled me to reconnect with my authentic self in order to live a heart-led and healthy life.
So what does it actually mean to live a heart-led and healthy life? A quote from one of my favourite books, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho sums it up nicely.
“Maybe the journey isn’t so much about becoming anything. Maybe it’s about unbecoming everything that isn’t really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.”
When I first trained as a Coach, doing a Post-Graduate in Business and Personal Coaching 10 years ago, I had limited awareness of what was going on in my body or in the 95% unconscious programming in my mind that was controlling my thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
Dr Bruce Lipton has been a source of inspiration to me with his work around epigenetics and how our beliefs shape what manifests in our bodies. He said that:
“95% percent of your life is coming from a subconscious program. Your life is a printout of your subconscious, and the things you wish, desire, and work hard for may not always be supported by the ingrained program you have.
But what would your life be like if you learned that you are more powerful than you have EVER been taught”?
When I retrained in Equine Facilitated Coaching in 2018 (working with horses to support individuals to heal and grow) I underwent a deep, therapeutic and healing process I started to make the connection between the mental, emotional, physical and energetic aspects of my Self and started to unearth limiting beliefs and parts of myself lurking in the shadows of my unconscious mind. Parts of myself I didn’t like or hadn’t acknowledged.
I started to recognise that the mental, emotional, physical and energetic aspects to my ‘Self’ were all one system and that just working with my mind was not going to shift the patterns of fear and shame that I had to be perfect or that I couldn’t speak my truth and express how I felt in case I was rejected. All of those patterns seemed to be stored deep inside my unconscious programming and stored deep inside my body.
Just working with the mind and intellectualising or reframing situations that hadn’t gone to plan wasn’t going to enable me to connect with the trapped emotion in my body and heal emotional wounds which had created limiting beliefs and perceptions about myself.
Just working with the mind wasn’t going to enable me to reconnect with the parts of myself I’d rejected as I’d learnt to believe they weren’t worthy of love, connection or belonging. It wasn’t going to help me reinstate boundaries to create a solid sense of Self. And it wasn’t going to help me be the ‘parent’ I needed to be for myself; to allow myself to feel whatever emotion I needed to feel and learn how to take the message from the emotional signpost and express it in a healthy way that didn’t break down relationships or cause dis-ease in my physical body because I’d suppressed it.
My training into equine therapy re-routed me on a journey of deep healing and reconnection with my whole self where I threw myself into a holistic approach to mental, emotional and physical health – including Reiki, meditation, kinesiology, homeopathy and yoga – which supported me through the death of my Mother and the breakdown of my marriage.
Then, as my life appeared to be entering a new chapter I was hit by the biggest shock of my life. A cancer diagnosis in 2020. A cancer diagnosis that rocked the whole foundation of who I thought I was. A foundation, as I now know, that was built on a mentally constructed version of who I thought I was based on limiting beliefs and perceptions that I’d learnt to believe. A foundation that needed a cancer diagnosis to smash it apart and unearth the actual solid foundations of who my heart and soul always knew I was. The truth of who I was always meant to be in the first place, as Paulo Coelho says.
My truth that the body is a self-healing organism with cells that are constantly regenerating; it will heal itself if we create the conditions for it to do that. The truth that we are not separate from nature. We ARE nature. And a holistic approach to healing supports the body to come back into a state of homeostasis where it is able to heal itself.
I’d needed that cancer diagnosis to reconnect with the wisdom of my body and heal the unprocessed trauma and emotional wounds that were creating stuck energy in my body and stopping it being in a state of homeostasis and flow where it could heal itself.
Further training in 2019 and 2022 as an Inner Child Practitioner and Transformational Coaching with Body Wisdom lead me to a deeper understanding of trauma and how it gets stuck in our energy and ultimately in our bodies.
Quantum physics shows us that energy and mass (matter) are different forms of the same thing. So every object has an enormous amount of energy within it.
But it also shows us that the space between our cells and atoms is the source of the most extreme energy on the planet. So just living in a 3-dimensional physical world and defining our reality by biology or by solid stuff around us, massively reduces our potential and our power.
So if our cells are constantly regenerating so why do we hold onto mental, emotional and physical pain and disease?
I believe because the world tells us we are not enough. Unprocessed trauma creates limiting beliefs and perceptions of ourselves which cause us to hold onto fear, shame and guilt and think, feel and behave in ways that embed those beliefs.
Our 24-7, fast paced, destructive, consumptive, information overloaded world constantly drip feeds the messages that we need to do more, know more, be more and have more.
All the external noise takes us further and further away from our inner wisdom in our heart out soul, and it keeps us in a disempowered, victim-like state where we feel like we’re being ‘done-to’ and have no choices and no control.
I’m not claiming to be a Scientist or a Doctor and I’m certainly not a Quantum Physics Professor but my reading and research around these topics has supported me to take back my power, listen to the truth in my heart and soul and create empowering beliefs which, in turn, have created a state of balance in my body where I feel more well than I’ve ever felt.
With love as always.
