An eagle’s perspective

I don’t know about you but I need to remind myself on a daily basis that we are not just physical beings.  We have a physical, mental, emotional and energetic “body” which makes up our whole ‘self’.  Energy can never be destroyed, it just changes form, and we are spiritual, energetic beings having a human experience.

But if you’re anything like me, sometimes that human experience can feel bloody hard.  In the current economic climate, it can sometimes feel like are working our butts off and fire-fighting relentless challenges just to keep the roof over our head and food on our plates.

This week provided a human-experience-challenge for me.

My son returned to University a few weeks ago, for his second year, and decided to take his car with him this time.  I contacted the insurance company and notified them that the car would be located at a different address – proactive and organised Mother that I am (on rare occasions)! 😊

After a long, busy day of clients on Tuesday this week, I received a text from the insurance company notifying me that his insurance policy would be cancelled in 7 days.  No details of why.

An urgent phone call and 30 mins on hold resulted in me being told they couldn’t tell me why they were cancelling the insurance as they needed to speak to the policyholder (apparently the person who pays for the insurance isn’t sufficient).

My son called them the following day to be told the policy would be increased by £3,000 a year due to the change of address and they recommended we find alternative insurance and cancel the policy.  Too bloody right!

So I duly found another insurance company and signed him up…another proactive and organised Mother moment (my gold star chart is looking good)!

I then made a phone call to the previous insurance company, feeling positive that I would be receiving a refund of the payment they’d already taken out of my account this month.  Clearly I had my spectacles of the rose-tinted variety on as I was told that I actually needed to pay £800 for cancelling the policy early.  WTF!!

In a not-so-proactive and organised Motherly voice I provided the “feedback” that they’d made the policy unaffordable so I had no choice other than to cancel it and were now charging me for the privilege!

Yes, apparently that was in the T&C’s…which I clearly thoroughly read through before signing!

Having negotiated a reduction and provided a little bit more feedback on their “service” I took some deep breaths and made a coffee (thankfully no wine was available so that wasn’t an option) before I headed off to have my own car serviced.  Yet another expense I could really do without but the service warning light had been on for 6 weeks and it was clearly urgent.

A lovely friend had recommended an independent mechanic who charged a fraction of the price of the main dealership (no brands will be mentioned in the writing of this blog).  On arriving at his house he informed me he’d drive my car to his garage, which was about 10 mins away, and drop me at a coffee shop in town while I waited for him to return.

All sounded lovely…although watching a complete stranger drive off (into the sunset) in my car was slightly unnerving.  But I headed to the coffee shop with the intention of enjoying a little sit down and watching the world go by.

I bumped into a friend whilst queuing for my coffee and got chatting and before I realised it, the coffee shop owner had charged her for my coffee!!  She declined my offer of paying her back and we had a laugh as I vowed to pay-it-forward to someone else in need of a coffee.

I hadn’t even taken ownership of my cup of coffee before I got a call from the mechanic saying he’d pulled over to check the onboard computer, where all the service history was stored.  Apparently the computer was saying the rear brake pads needed replacing but all other servicey-type elements were fine and not needing to be done.

He’d had a look at the rear brake pads and said they were fine and I would get loads more wear out of them, so he had re-set the warning light and was bringing my car back to me!  Nothing needed to be done.  No money needed to be paid!

Wow….suddenly my crappy morning had turned into a brilliant day!  Suddenly my human experience was starting to feel more spiritual, like someone was trying to tell me something.

And during my meditation later that day I had a really clear and powerful image of an eagle floating above me.  I love looking for the messages in symbolism so a quick Google of the spiritual meaning of eagles told me that they symbolize spirit, freedom, and self-expression. They have a solid connection to the element of air and this connection reminds us that we are more than just physical beings; we have a spiritual side as well. Our thoughts and intentions create who we become.

A perfect message, thank you, Mr Eagle 😊.

I often invite clients to imagine floating up above their head and looking down on their life, if they are feeling stuck in their current situation.  I invite them to look down on their life and notice what they can see; notice what they are potentially not seeing with the current ‘lens’ they are looking through.

This gives them an opportunity to see a bigger picture and get out of the ‘mental constructs’ that they may have created for themselves causing them to feel stuck.

And for me, of course, Mr Eagle was reminding me that there are many many kind, honest people in this world who want to help and support others.  And there is joy to be found everywhere if we’re prepared to look from a different perspective.

And that far outweighs any challenges caused by not reading the T&Cs!

Get in touch if you’re feeling stuck in your “human-experience” and struggling to see a different perspective.

With love Sarah xx
