“Choose Life” book update 2: A Fuzzy Felt scene

If the truth be known I haven’t done much book writing or much writing about writing in the last three weeks.

The December ‘craziness’ took hold, gripped really tightly and squeezed me ‘til I popped.  Well, what actually happened was I squeezed too many commitments into my ‘already-up-to-capacity’ diary and because I didn’t set enough boundaries with my time and energy, my body said NO.  So I’ve spent this week in bed with flu.

And whilst I could look externally for the cause and blame the December craziness, I believe we create our own reality (sub-consciously) so the responsibility sits firmly with me.  It doesn’t matter how many times I tell myself I hadn’t compromised my self-care – I was still meditating every morning, still journaling and still having healing and Reiki sessions – self-care, for me, also means tuning into and listening to the messages my body is sending me every day.  Our bodies are a map for our unconscious minds, where all our behaviour and habits are stored, so are always communicating with us.

And yes, I was tuning into the pain in my hip which had stopped me running for the last 6 weeks and I was tuning into the pain in my right elbow.  And yes, I was aware my body was communicating a need to slow down and take a bit of pressure off myself.  But did I actually listen to that?  No, I didn’t.  So my body shouted at me and made the choice for me.

So progress on my book isn’t as good as I’d wanted to it be but I’m reminding myself of a favourite quote:

“The universe doesn’t make mistakes.  Everything is happening just as it should be.  It’s only our perception of difficulties that causes us distress and the difficulty we experience.  Not only that but when we label events as “bad” we fail to perceive the benefit that is waiting for us.”

My book “Choose Life” is my story of what happened to me when my emotional, mental, physical and energetic ‘bodies’ were out of alignment and the dis-ease that I manifested in my physical body as a result.  And it’s about the layers of stories and limiting beliefs I learnt to believe about myself which caused that misalignment.

I believe the December craziness that has tipped me out of a natural state of wellness/homeostasis and into dis-ease this week is another example of some old people-pleasing stories rearing their ugly heads again, causing me to disregard the early warning signs my body was giving me, and not saying no to things, for fear of rejection.  So, of course, it’s a good thing that that has happened so I can take responsibility for learning from it and healing another layer of old trauma that is no longer serving me.

The good news is I have finished my 6-week Smart Author training course which has been incredibly helpful in supporting me to create a structure for my book.

During that process, my right brain, which was more than happy to just sit down and write whatever popped into my head and just wing it, massively resisted having to slow down and think about what exactly I was trying to achieve and create a plan of how to achieve that in the best way.  But my left brain was relieved to now at least have some direction.

So as you can see from the photo, my book currently looks like an unfinished Fuzzy Felt scene and all I need to do now is turn it into a beautiful Farmyard or Circus scene and translate that into some words on a page.

Although I never did have the Fuzzy Felt Circus in the 70’s so I’d have to wing that one….right brain gets excited😊.
