I feel I should break into song in my best ‘Elsa-from-Frozen’ voice. OK, so maybe that wasn’t actually what Elsa sang but, hey, that’s just semantics 😊.
Interestingly the song “Let it Go” was about Elsa feeling controlled by fear of what other people would think about her powers. And she decided to reject that fear and sang “I don’t care what they’re going to say” and “let the storm rage on”.
And although this blog is not about concealing parts of ourselves because we’re afraid of being judged, it IS about being controlled by fear.
How many of the choices you make are as a result of fear? Are you moving away from something or towards it?
As always, my life situation has prompted me to write this blog. The constant signs that I need to let go of fear and doubt, and trust myself and the flow of life, are appearing all over the place.
The signs are telling me to stop seeking answers externally and trust that I already know the answers. And that life is showing me answers to the things I don’t yet know, if I’m grounded and living in the present moment enough to notice them. This is happening through people recommending books to me, not even knowing the answers I’m looking for. Through random conversations with people, through similar challenges coming up in client sessions and consistently noticing relevant posts on social media, to name a few.
The irony is not lost on me that, as a Coach, I trust the client’s ability to find their own answers and all I do is facilitate the process of helping them find them.
You are probably familiar with the term “being in FLOW” (see my previous blog) and this theory is really useful when you want to focus on a task, learn how to motivate yourself and work at your best. But how often do you surrender to the flow of life?
How often do you resist what is happening as it’s not what you thought you wanted? Or you resist and are fearful of what might happen in a situation so you try and control the outcome?
When things don’t go as we’d planned or as we’d like them to, we sometimes resist what is in this moment right now rather than asking ourselves “what is this situation showing me right now and what do I need to learn from it”? We resist what is happening right now because we don’t want to see it, to feel it or to hear it. But resisting the flow and swimming up stream takes a lot of effort and energy.
But what if you believed you ARE OK and capable of handling whatever life throws at you? What if life was just asking you to get out of your own way and prove (to yourself) just what you’re capable of and just how powerful you are?
What if life was showing you to let go of what you are holding onto, to let go of the way you have constructed your reality; beliefs and behaviour patterns that are no longer serving you, or suppressed emotion that needs to be released? What if life was showing you to let go and be free?
Allowing yourself to let go and go with the flow and trust what life is showing you, takes a lot less energy. And in my experience, this process is a lot easier with a good, guided meditation to hand to help you tune out the internal chatter and resistance!
What we believe affects how we feel and it affects the cells in our body. If you believe you can do something you’ll notice the opportunities and have the confidence to try. If you believe you can’t, you’ll see the reasons why you can’t do it and avoid it. Both are stepping out of the flow of life and stepping out of the innate power you have to create the life you want.
What are you resisting right now? What do you not want to see, to hear or to feel? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
With love Sarah xx
